JoAnn Genette is a Chicago Radio personality that has worked in the Chicago Metro area since 1996. She has held a variety of positions from News Anchor, Host, Co-Host and Music Jock in a wide variety of formats. JoAnn Genette is currently with Robert Murphy on 94.7 WLS FM, and can also be heard on WLS 890 AM, and 97.9 The Loop.Born in Berwyn, Illinois, she spent most of her life in the Chicago area. She attended Illinois Center for Broadcasting, Lombard, where she interned for Kevin Matthews and for a brief time Danny Bonaduce at 97.9 The Loop.After graduating from the Illinois Center for Broadcasting in 1994, she began working for 92.7 WCBR “The Bear” broadcasting from Arlington Heights.When the station was taken over by Big City Radio in 1998, she was retained to work at the new station by then program director Judy McNutt.In 1999 Big City Radio brought Robert Murphy to Chicago sister station 103.5 FM, where JoAnn landed the Co-Host spot. The station was formatted as “Chicago’s Heart and Soul” and played a format of Motown hits and blue eyed soul. It later became WXXY /WYXX 103.1 “The Eighties Channel” playing eighties hits and a rotation of early MTV favorites.JoAnn then worked with Paul Peterson on WLIT 93.9 FM as Co-Host of the Morning Drive shift with Paul Peterson. When Clear Channel formatted 103.5 FM to Top 40 station, WKCS KISS-FM, JoAnn was brought on board.She was originally added to bring localization to “Valentine in the Morning”, a morning show, streamed in from Los Angles and broadcast in Chicago.KISS-FM decided to end the simulcasted Sean Valentine morning show, but kept JoAnn, bringing Kevin “Drex” Buchar as morning drive host. JoAnn became the News and Traffic personality for the show. She also served as the News and Current Affairs Director for the station for seven years. Her work in Public Affairs for the station earned her the title of "Honorary Board Member of the Sudden Death Infant Syndrome Services of Illinois".JoAnn was the first Anchor on FM News 101 Chicago, and co-hosted a news talk format show with Dave Williams. She then moved to News Radio 780 AM/105.9 FM WBBM as an anchor. From there, she moved to Co-Host "Mackay in the Morning" with Scott Mackay at 95.9 FM WERV. She has also made appearances on Tony Losanno’s “The Nude Hippo Show” and "Lossano and Friends". In addition to working in radio, JoAnn has been a phlebotomist, a secretary and a carousel ride operator.
